Heritage Montessori Academy – Frequently Asked Questions

General Information

Montessori education is a child-centered approach that encourages independence, curiosity, and hands-on learning. Unlike traditional schools with rigid schedules and teacher-led lessons, Montessori classrooms allow children to learn at their own pace, explore subjects deeply, and develop a love for lifelong learning.

We welcome children from infants through elementary levels, depending on the program. Each classroom is carefully designed to meet the developmental needs of specific age groups.

Enrollment is open year-round as space allows. Families can join at any time, and our staff helps each new student transition smoothly into the classroom community.

Our standard hours are Monday – Friday ; 07:00AM To 06:00PM, with flexible before-school and after-school care available to support busy families. Extended care includes supervised activities in a safe, nurturing environment.

Class sizes are intentionally small to ensure individualized attention. Ratios vary by program, but generally range from 1:6 in younger classrooms to 1:12 in older groups.

Yes. Our lead teachers hold Montessori certifications and receive ongoing professional development. Many also have degrees in early childhood or elementary education.

Curriculum & Learning Approach

Montessori education nurtures the whole child — academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. Children build independence, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence, all while developing a strong academic foundation.

Our curriculum includes practical life skills, language, math, science, geography, cultural studies, and the arts. We also integrate foreign languages, STEAM activities, and physical education.

Montessori students meet or exceed state and national standards, but the curriculum is presented in a hands-on, experiential way. Children often advance beyond traditional grade-level expectations.

Teachers carefully observe and document each child’s growth. Progress is shared through detailed reports, parent conferences, and portfolios that highlight individual achievements.

Montessori classrooms are filled with scientifically designed materials that help children understand abstract concepts through concrete exploration. For example, children learn math with bead chains and geometry with shape puzzles.

Absolutely! We believe in developing well-rounded learners. Our programs include foreign languages, STEAM-based projects, art, music, and physical activities that enrich your child’s learning experience.

Yes. Outdoor play is an important part of our daily schedule. Children participate in free play, structured games, and physical education to develop coordination and teamwork.

Families may provide healthy lunches and snacks, or you may opt into our meal program (if available). We also encourage children to practice independence by helping prepare and serve food in age-appropriate ways.

We offer a variety of enrichment opportunities, such as sports, music, art, dance, and language clubs, depending on the program and age group.

Our curriculum prepares children to adapt to any learning environment. We focus on independence, responsibility, and academic readiness, which makes the transition to traditional schools smooth and successful.

Safety & Well-Being

Safety is our top priority. We use secure entry systems, maintain strict visitor policies, and ensure staff are trained in emergency procedures.
